Homemade Goat Milk Soap Recipes

You might be already aware about the ingredients of homemade soap recipes. Since they involve using lye, make sure you wear protective gloves and safety masks to avoid accidental contact with this corrosive compound.
Other than this, you will need basic supplies, like a candy thermometer, spatula, mixing bowl, hand blender, soap molds, and cookie racks.

Easy Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • Pure goat milk, 4 cups (or canned goat milk)
  • Lard, 13 cups (slightly melted)
  • Caustic soda (lye), 1 can
  • Hot water, 1 can
  • Honey, ½ cup
Directions for Preparation
Take a non-reacting container (preferably enamel or stainless steel) and add goat milk, honey, and hot water. Stir well and slowly add lye to the milk mixture. Leave it for cooling till desirable temperature is reached, (85°F). Warm lard to about 85°F and pour this to lye mixture.
Using a wooden spatula, stir and make the consistency similar to that of honey. Pour soap base in the molds. After 48 hours, these body wash soaps will be hardened and ready for cutting.

Oatmeal Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • Olive oil, 21 oz.
  • Coconut oil, 14 oz.
  • Palm oil, 9 oz.
  • Lye, 6.3 oz.
  • Goat's milk, 15.5 oz.
  • Oatmeal, 2 oz.
  • Raw honey, 1 oz.
Directions for Preparation
Blend oatmeal in the electric blender till you get a fine consistency, and keep aside. Pour goat milk in a pitcher, and gently add lye to this pitcher. Stir slowly with a wooden spatula, till the lye dissolves completely in the milk.
Take proper care as the mixture will become hot. Keep this aside in a safe place for cooling. In the meantime, combine olive, coconut, and palm oil in a large steel pan. Heat this oil mixture in a low heat setting to about 92°F.
Keep a watch over the lye milk mixture. As soon as it cools down to 92°F, you can mix it with the oil mixture. Following this, stir using a stick blender for about 15-17 minutes, or until the soap mixture reaches trace.
Add ground oatmeal, honey, and fragrant oil (if desired). Stir for a few minutes for even mixing of the ingredients, and pour it in soap molds. Keep it undisturbed for two days, and you will get goat milk soap bars.

Olive Oil Goat Milk Soap

Ingredients
  • Goat milk, 1 cup
  • Lard (rendered fat), 1 cup (melted)
  • Olive oil, 1 cup
  • Lye, ¼ cup
  • Water, ¼ cup
Directions for Preparation
With proper care, dissolve lye in water, preferably in a pitcher. Allow this mixture to cool down, about 110°F. To the pan containing melted fat, add lye mixture and goat milk (one after the other).
Combine the castile soap concoction to trace, which may take about 1 hour with manual stirring. Pour this in soap molds, and let it harden for 2 days. With this step, your homemade goat milk soap is ready. Cure soaps for 3-4 weeks before using them.
The resulting goat milk soap benefits in treating acne outbreaks, balancing pH levels, and moisturizing skin, thereby preventing excess dryness, which is so with commercially sold soaps. You can make a liquid version without using lye. Also, substitute essential oils for a new fragrance, but make sure that they suit your skin type.
