Those who have a sewing machine know the importance of a sewing table.
Making a sewing table is not such an easy task. If you do not have the basic skills of woodwork, then you should not attempt to build a sewing table, you should probably buy one from the market. If you have faith in your capability, then you can go ahead and make a table for your machine.
How to Build a Sewing Table
Here we have given the instructions to make a simple sewing machine table. You will need wooden boards of the following measurements for the project:

In addition to this you will need a tape measure, pencil, 2 shelf brackets, nails, and a hammer. Once you have all the things mentioned, you can proceed.
Step 1
First we will focus on the base of the shelf. Take one of the wooden boards designated as 'Legs' in the measurement table mentioned earlier. Now, measure 5'' from a shorter edge of the 'Leg', and make a mark with the pencil.
Take one of the shelf brackets, and attach it to the 'Leg' right below the pencil mark. Repeat this procedure for the second 'Leg'. Now, you have the base for your shelf ready.
Step 2
Now, it is time to attach the 'Legs' to the 'Top'. Take a 'Leg', and attach it to one of the shorter edges of the 'Top', in such a way, that it satisfies the conditions mentioned here:
● The shelf bracket on the 'Leg' faces the other shorter edge of the 'Top'. ● The longer edges of the 'Leg' should be perpendicular to the longer edges of the 'Top' ● One of the longer edges of the 'Leg', should be flush with one of the longer edges of the 'Top'. ● The height of the table should be 37''.
Now, measure 28'' from the attached 'Leg', and fix the second 'Leg', such that the shelf brackets face each other, and condition number 2, 3 and 4 are satisfied.
Note: Nail through the top to attach the 'Legs'.
Step 3
You will find that there is a 1'' gap between the 'Legs' and one of the longer edges of the 'Top', you have to attach the 'Back' in the gap. Position the 'Back', such that it meets the following conditions
● The shorter edges of the 'Back' should be perpendicular to the 'Top'. ● The surface of the 'Back' should be in contact with the 'Legs'.
After you are sure that the positioning is right, fasten the 'Back' to the 'Top' and the 'Legs', using nails.
Step 4
Your table is almost done. To complete the table you should position the 'Shelf' over the shelf brackets. Keep the table upright, then take the 'Shelf', and carefully slide it over the shelf brackets. The table is now complete, but your project isn't!
You still have to inspect the table that you have made. Examine the table for any flaws. If you find any defects, fix it. Make sure that the table does not wobble, before you think of doing any finishing on the wood.
Woodwork can be exacting, so be mentally and physically prepared before you start the project. Do not try to finish the work in a hurry, else your table will lack quality. Be careful while doing the project, especially while handling the nails, and the hammer.
As mentioned earlier, this is a very simple design. You can customize the sewing table to suit your needs, but remember, to implement complex designs you should be really good at carpentry.
