Making Leather Bracelets

There are many designs and styles of leather bracelets that you can make. From simple structured cuffs to the woven designs. Here are two ideas on making leather bracelets.

Leather Cuff Bracelet

Things required
  • A leather piece (in a color of your choice)
  • A pair of sharp scissors
  • Super glue
  • Piece of flexible wire
  • Snap button
Procedure
To make this leather cuff bracelet, first wrap the piece of leather on your wrist and mark how much material is required. Now cut the leather piece into an oval shape, making sure that you don't cut it smaller than your wrist size. Scrunch the midpoint of the oval piece of leather to form a bow shape.
Secure the bow by wrapping a piece of flexible wire in the middle. Tie a small knot at the back of the leather piece so that the bow stays in place. Cut a very narrow section of leather from the scrap leather piece and wrap it around the wire. Use super glue to adhere the leather piece over the wire.
Attach both parts of the snap button on each end of the leather bow with the help of glue. Alternatively, you can also sew the snap button with a needle and thread. Voila! Your cuff leather bracelet with bow detail is done. To wear this bracelet, all you need to do is wrap it around your wrist, align bow to the front and snap the button close.

Linked Leather Bracelet

Things required
  • Card stock
  • Scissors
  • Leather piece
  • Needle
  • Pen
  • Utility knife
  • Thread
Procedure
To make this linked leather bracelet, you need to create a template from the card stock. Draw a large figure "8" on the card stock which is approximately 1 inch in length. Trace another figure "8" inside the first figure, with a gap of ¼th inch.
Cut out the inner portion of this figure until you have a template. Tilt the template by 90 degrees, and this will be the final template for the leather bracelet.
Next place the template over the back of the leather piece, and trace the outline with a pen. Now cut the outline of the shape with a pair of sharp scissors and also cut out the inner portion of the shape.
Cut out more leather shapes like this until you have about 8-14 pieces. (the number that you will need to make the bracelet will depend on the size of your wrist.) Next fold one leather piece into half, and place it on the work table. Hold the shape in place with your index finger.
Now push a second piece of leather through the opening of the folded piece, and fold the second leather piece to form a link. Continue looping more leather pieces in this way until you have a nice linked leather bracelet that fits your wrist.
Sew the ends of the last leather piece together and attach a snap button on each end. Your linked leather bracelet is ready and you can wear with any bohemian clothing.
Leather bracelets look great with casual as well as layered clothing style. It is a really chic and quirky jewelry piece and you can style it with different outfits. Now that you know how to make leather bracelets, you can create one on your own and add it to your accessory collection.
