Tie Dye Instructions

You'll stumble upon the ways on how to tie dye clothing, where you can use this method to bring forth any tie dye patterns that you have in mind.

Choosing Your Fabric

The fabrics that work best with tie dye colors are materials like linen, cotton, silk and rayon. These contain a minimum of 80 percent cellulose fiber, making it ideal for use when getting into tie dyeing.

Washing

It is better to have your choice of fabric pre-washed before you start out on your tie dyeing process. This will take some time so have it done in advance.

Fabric Tying

You should use either rubber bands or ordinary string to help tie your fabric together. To tie the garment means that you're obstructing color from seeping to another part of the material. You can either keep white/colored/blank spaces between each dyed section, to play out a particular pattern's design.

Mixing

When you buy the dyes, you can mix these together earlier, than when you expect to sit down and have this done, or you could just follow the instructions given on the packaging's behind.
To start off with the mixing, you need to coalesce 1 tablespoon of urea, with a cup of 250ml of water. All colors require this portion of ingredients individually. The best dyes to go with are those that are fiber reactive in nature, with four teaspoons (per color, separate mixes) of this added to the urea solution.

Soaking in Advance

Before you use the fabric for tie dyeing, you have to first soak it for about 15 minutes in a mixture of one cup sodium carbonate and water. Remember to use a face mask and gloves before handling any of the mentioned mixtures in this process.

Applying Dye

Using spray bottles for the dye mixture to avoid a mess, by first applying the colors to different parts of your tied fabric wherever you desire a particular color tone, and then leave this to sit for about twenty-four hours.
To get an even layer of color on all the tied sections of your garment, soak each part carefully in the colored mixture of your choice, making sure not to spill anything. Then lastly, you have to wash the fabric with cold water and in the future remember to separate these from other clothes while washing. Your garment or home accessory is now ready for use!
Tie dye clothing is a great way of playing it up with color mosaics, that would turn out even better if you know the color palette of which colors merge with one another to produce a new tone. Mix and match colors and test out designs that will have people impressed when they see your work.
